This article covers installing and activating the Pro Version of WP Live Chat Support.
In order for the Pro Version of WP Live Chat Support to work as expected, the basic version need already be installed and activated on your site. Please consult this article for an overview of installing and activating our basic version.
After your purchase of the Pro Version has been completed, you should receive a download link from us. This will download the Pro plugin in a zipped file. If your device automatically unzips on download, please ensure you zip the file again.
You will then need to navigate to your WordPress Admin area → Plugins → Add New → Upload.
Click the Choose file button and select the zipped Pro file from your files directory.
Click Install Now.
After the plugin is installed, the page will refresh and you’ll see the screen below.
Click the Activate button to activate WP Live Chat Support Pro.
Once the Pro Version of WP Live Chat Support is installed and activated on your site, you will need to verify the plugin using your API Key.
Navigate to Live Chat → API Keys. Enter your API Key in the provided field and click Verify.
Once your API key has been verified, your status will change to Valid.
To view or manage your API Keys, you can log into your my-account using your purchase email address as the username.
To update (reset) the domain linked to your API Key, please consult this article. If your API key has expired, the plugin will still work as expected; only a handful of Pro features will no longer be able to function on your site. WP Live Chat Support is configured to operate as expected on your site, once activated and verified. You do not need to make any changes to the settings. The plugin does, however, require that the Chat Dashboard is open in one of your browser tabs, in order to receive chats.
After upgrading to the Pro Version, your Chat Dashboard will be enhanced with a few additional features.
Control the status of your Live Chat with the online/offline toggle.
Initiate chats with your site visitors.
Formulate faster responses by knowing what your visitors are typing, even before submitting the message.
Hover over your messages to edit them.
Know your customer’s every move by opening the Event Panel.
